TO END THE ILLEGAL HUNTING OF SEA TURTLES, WE SUPPORT THE TURTLE FOUNDATION

Sustainable species and nature conservation cannot stand alone, but can only succeed in close cooperation with the local population. To put a permanent end to the illegal hunting of sea turtles on beaches and in the sea, it is important to raise awareness of the issue among the local population and develop sustainable alternative income opportunities.

In a survey on the Cape Verdean island of Boa Vista, the Turtle Foundation found that only around 14% of children and young people can swim well enough to stay safe in the sea. This alarming result made it clear that there is often a lack of positive connection to the sea in order to advocate for its protection.

We therefore support the Turtle Foundation as part of marine environmental education for children and young people. Participants learn how to interact safely with the sea and its inhabitants and learn how to swim and snorkel with trained staff.

We support everwave in cleaning up the environment

Garbage boats are used to prevent waste from entering the oceans. Artificial intelligence assists in the cleanup missions to detect and analyze waste. The collected material is then recycled through environmentally friendly processes and, in addition, the public is made aware of environmental issues. The start-up is organizing long-term and holistic Cleanup Projects e.g. in Thailand, Romania or Cambodia to ensure clean waters. Until today everwave has already collected over 900 tons of waste from rivers.

Their vision is a responsible society for healthy oceans. The mission is to clean rivers from plastic waste and thus protect the ocean, through technological innovation, ecological inspiration and international interconnectedness - for a sustainable future.

WE SUPPORT THE TURTLE FOUNDATION IN GIVING BABY TURTLES A SAFE START IN LIFE

The world's oceans have been populated by sea turtles for 200 million years, but the seven species that exist today are all threatened with extinction. Essentially, they are threatened by humans hunting for their eggs and meat. But sea turtles are also being hurt by the increasing destruction of their habitats.

The Turtle Foundation is a non-profit organization established in various countries around the world to protect endangered sea turtles and their habitats in the Republic of Cape Verde and Indonesia. This includes protecting turtle nests from natural enemies as well as poachers and tourists.

BEACH CLEANUP WORLD EARTH DAY

Nature and wildlife suffer from trash washed up on the shore or left at the beach by visitors. We took the team out for a cleanup tour at the Naturstrand Schillig in Northern Germany. The beach is part of the UNESCO-Weltnaturerbe. We teamed up with @nordsee_wagerland again and collected trash at the shore and the dunes.

The WORLD EARTH DAY, celebrates and honors the achievements of the environmental movement. We chose this day in order to raise awareness of the importance of ecological sustainability and to show how every single one of us can make a difference.

This time we even had the sun join us - Check out what we found on Instagram :

WE ARE SUPPORTING THE REEFSCAPERS ORGANIZATION IN THE REHABILITATION OF HURT TURTLES

As an ocean positive brand we are looking into more sustainable ways of production and we’re not stopping there. As this collection is inspired by the beautiful sea turtle, we are teaming up with the REEFSCAPERS Organization to help with the rehabilitation of hurt turtles. Parts of the profit from our TURTLE COLLECTION, that we will be launching this fall, will be donated to support their work.

The Reefscapers is on a mission to develop projects, in the fields of protection, conservation, preservation and restoration of marine ecosystems, in French or foreign territories. The main project is to protect marine ecosystems through coral reefs restoration, turtle rehabilitation, education, and scientific research.
